Recent news of a ‘bat cave’ at an Edinburgh quarry got our attention in the news recently and reminded us of some the ecological services we have provided and continue to provide.

As part of a land development project, Middleton Quarry in Edinburgh, the new developer had to ensure that the existing bat population was safeguarded in an old underground mine whilst working on the site.

The site continues to house three different species of bats including long eared brown bats, Natterers bats and Daubenton’s bats and special provision was made to cater for the bats continued habitat.

Whilst AFP wasn’t involved in this project it serves as a great example of just the kind of project we can undertake. It involves earthworks, rock removal, construction with gabion basket structures and of course the ecological contracting expertise and experience.
